Enabling XAML Spy in your app is very easy. Just add a NuGet package to your project and start debugging. Before you begin, make sure you download and install XAML Spy 3 on your Windows machine. This will register the required XAML Spy windows service and install the tooling.
The following step-by-step tutorial explains how to enable XAML Spy using Visual Studio 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Open your Xamarin Android, iOS, or Windows project in Visual Studio.
Install the NuGet package XamlSpy. Navigate to the project references and select Manage Nuget Packages… Search for XamlSpy and install the package.
Compile and start your app in debug mode.
Launch the XAML Spy desktop app, or open the XAML Spy Explorer tool window in Visual Studio (View > Other Windows > XAML Spy Explorer).
Your app will automatically appear in the explorer. You can now browse the various aspects of your app at runtime. The XAML Spy Properties provide detailed information on the elements selected in the explorer.
